Alice in Wonderland palette now on Sephora.com

Sephora has finally put the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows online!

If you really want this palette get it NOW ....just in case it sells out the way it did on Urban Decay's website! I have mine in hand already (thanks to the bf who was willing to drive down to Whitby to the only Shoppers Drug Mart location that has the palette in store!)

Don't forget to use Ebates (or Bing for US residents) for cashback! Speaking of which I'm super jealous of US residents because they get cashback from Bing...which I hear is like 10% for Sephora? Unfortunately it only extends to people with a US billing address.

Cargo is 50% off at Sephora

Cargo Cosmetics is 50% off at Sephora! I happened to be browsing through my wishlist and noticed the price of a blush I wanted had been reduced.

I don't know if this is old news since a lot of their blushes are already gone...but then I haven't seen this posted anywhere besides Makeup Talk when I google search "cargo sephora". According to them the brand is being discontinued from Sephora stores and online.

Hope you get some good stuff before its all gone! There's still lots of lip products left and some HD powders. A little sad that Cargo is going since they are Canadian and one of the few brands that don't mark up their prices in Canada.

P.S. Sorry for the absence - hope this news kind of makes up for it? :P

Flower Girl video

I haven't watched Youtube videos in a while, so I may be out of date now but this girl is one of my new favourites to watch:

She's so creative, and I love her expressions! I'm guilty of fast forwarding some tutorials but not this one :)

Yaby Cosmetics Pearl Paints

As promised here's more pictures and swatches of the Yaby Pearl Paints palette :)

Yaby Cosmetics is a Canadian brand that is gaining popularity with makeup artists. heir products come in simple sleek white packaging. Even though the palette is plastic, it feels heavy and much sturdier than say the 88 black palettes or the Sephora Blockbuster palette.

The eyeshadow sizes are about the size of a dime so they are slightly larger than the 88 palettes but smaller than MAC eyeshadow pans. They offer a range of colour finishes, but I wanted the Pearl Paints eyeshadows because of the shimmery finish. I was actually going to buy the pre-made World of Pearl Paints palette, but they were out of stock at IMATS so I bought the palette and shadows separately. It contains all the Pearl Paints except for 3 colours which I substituted from the main range.

Colours that I substituted are:
- Purple in 3rd row from left, second last pan
- Greens in 5th row, the last 2 colours at the bottom

The colours are extremely vibrant, even the regular non-pearl paint shadows. They are even brighter when applied in real life, more than the 88 shimmer palette I have.

Blues and greens (middle of palette)

Neutrals (right side of palette)

I love these colours because they blend well and are extremely pigmented! Here's a FOTD using the greens and the bright yellow shade:

I purchased the whole 40 pan palette and colours for $90 at IMATS Toronto, but these palettes are regularly $120 to $136 on the Yaby Cosmetics website. You can find great swatches of the full Pearl Paints palette from Whit and Pursebuzz - the shimmer and pigmentation really show up in their photos.

Overall these are one of my favourite eyeshadows ever due to the creamy, easily blendable texture and vibrant colours. If you are willing to invest in a good quality palette I'd definitely recommend Yaby!

P.S. I just updated my blogsale with more new items. Its more of a preview list since there aren't pictures yet, but if something catches your eye you are more than welcome to buy it! Thanks :)

Happy 2010!

Finally the new year is here! I've been looking forward to 2010 for a fresh start. 2009 wasn't that bad for me, but I feel that I squandered some opportunities and didn't really work on areas that I wanted to improve.

My resolutions for 2010 are much simpler than last year's. Basically, I've decided to work on these 3 issues in my life that I've been having trouble with:

-Prioritization
-Procrastination
-Minimalism

The first two go hand-in-hand, as I've slipped into a nasty habit of procrastination since graduating, always thinking: "I'll just do it another time...". There are so many things I want to accomplish but never have the time for. This year I feel that I've identified my priorities in life and so I plan to be more disciplined, and work on the things that really matter the most to me first over other less important things.

At the same time, I've been reading Fabulously Broke's blog for a while now and am becoming more interested in the minimalist idea. You all have an idea of just how much makeup I own, and it really is getting out of control. I had to move to a new place a month ago, and the packing process made me realise how much stuff I have that I really don't use. I doubt I'll get as far as a true minimalist would, but I definitely want to get rid of the clutter I don't use and refrain from buying more things unless they are absolute necessities.

Anyway best wishes for 2010, and good luck with your goals for this year! :D
