Harry Potter EOTD :P

Hey guys, so sorry I haven't been able to reply to comments for the past few days. Been pretty busy and haven't had much of a chance to get on the computer :S

But I'll have a lot of hauls to share this weekend :D I received my orders from Adam Beauty, Coastal Scents, Silk Naturals, and The She Space this week, not to mention my bf came back from Japan a few days ago so I got all my japanese stuff ^^

For now here's an quick EOTD I did when I was bored Sunday night. This was inspired by Chi from ABB where she did a Golden Plum EOTD pairing MAC Goldmine with MAC Nocturnelle. The colours looked so pretty on her I just had to give it a try.

However, in my case, I don't know why but the colours came out looking like Hogwart's uniform colours....burgundy and yellow haha :S I blame it on Nocturnelle, because it was purple in real life but refused to show up as purple in the pics. It looked more burgundy instead.

So voila...my Harry Potter EOTD :P

Not a crazy HP fan btw - I haven't even read all the books. I just read them whenever I find out a friend has the book. I think I even read one of them on PDF lol, because I'm too cheap to buy those books :P

Finally, to answer a question that I got on my previous makeup collection post - Anonymous wanted to know how the Monistat gel works as a primer. I'd say it seems to work well as a primer - its silicone based like the Smashbox one, and after applying it my face feels super smooth. However I haven't used it more than a few times so I can't say for sure it works great :S Reason being, at first I thought it was giving me blackheads, am still not sure about that since I haven't tried using it in months. But it does work well for A LOT of people I know like Alienman and (g)ezebel. Sorry I can't really go into too much detail since I only ever used it 4-5 times...I might give it another try this weekend though.

i notice that the top border of ur e/s is really well blended. i always have to brush a light e/s on the top border so it won't look so harsh=/ what brush (or techniques) do u use for that? thanks!

hehe. it does remind me of harry potter. :] but in all honestly i like the colors. how odd is it that nocturnelle turned out burgundy instead of purple on you! hehe. but it's really pretty, i REALLY like this combo... i may have to try it out myself. hehe. :D

This look is always fab on everyone! I used to wear this almost everyday lol I love it on you!

I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!!!!

As for the Monistat, I use it everyday. (g) recommended it when I was trying to question if I actually need a face primer. It makes a HUGE difference... for me anyways. It smooths out my skin before foundation/concealer application. It's great if you have dry spots, it will help keep the skin in tact and not look all dry and flaky. I absolutely love it! It's way cheaper than smashbox!

Actually, I didn't have any problems with the first tube, but with my 2nd tube, I'm getting WHITEHEADS on my nose YECK

I wonder if it's just this tube?! I mean, it's not noncomedogenic but I used the first tube for quite a while and didn't see a problem. I'm going to try Milk o'Mag next time >:D

Pretty! It definitely reminds me of Harry Potter, lol.

I'm the same way as you - I finally read the 7th Harry Potter book this past winter. The ending wasn't that great, lol.

Wow good job on the e/s. Everyone seems to be liking the golden plum and doing their own versions of it. *sigh* each of their golden plum looks better than mine -_-;

how cutee!! I love HP :) I love these colors combined together, what are you using to highlight under your brows? I like it :)

xm: i use the Sephora brand floppy blending brush to soften the lines http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P48804&categoryId=B70

But you can use any similarly shaped brush. I think the MAC equivalent is the 224, or the 222 if you want something smaller and more precise :)

using a lighter colour also helps - normally I don't use it to help blend the eyeshadow but in this particular EOTD I did use ELF True Pink eyeshadow to blend the highlight colour with the colours on the lid. Hope this helps :)

christiana: you should try it, i'd love to see :)

ilurvemakeup: aww thanks :) yeah i get dry spots :S which is why i'm gonna give it another try because the canadian winter this year's been brutal :(

alienman: that sucks :( i'm afraid of it happening when i test it out again...You're sure its not from anything new you've introduced into your routine? I've heard MoM is good for oily skin, I would rather try that but apparently MoM can be drying for other skin types so I haven't bothered.

emilee: yeah i keep hearing that about the ending. I haven't even read that last one yet haha :D

bliss: thank you!

chyix2: no way! honestly i think yours was way better than mine, at least the colours came out nice! mine became harry potter....-.- so i didn't even get close :S

nicnic: thanks! no...i thought about it too late and he'd already gotten me 3 bottles of DHC lol, so I didn't want to ask him to buy more stuff. He already got so much for me too, i'd feel bad... Next time I guess :)

ladystarr: thank you :)

petitebelle: thanks! I used the light pink shade from the Holiday'07 Cool Eyes palette to highlight. Plus
ELF True Pink between highlight shade and crease :)

I gotta say, those Harry Potter colours are really nice. As for Monistat, which one are you buying? I was checking them out and they come in a couple of sizes (treatments)... More pricey than I was expecting too.

watercoloursky said...

psychoex: i already have it in my collection but just been neglecting it for some time now...
Make sure you get the Anti-chafing gel and not the yeast infection treatments...the Anti-chafing gel actually says "This product is not meant to treat yeast infections" on the back lol
And there might be a $1.50 coupon in the box - if you can take it out, you could use it right away :)

cheryl: thanks! :)

psychoex: haha actually I can't take the credit for the idea. I think I heard it from Ilurvemakeup :)

how pretty! which products did you use for the eyeshadows?

lol HP. Sadly, i have never read a single book. The farthest I've gotten with the first book was up to chapter 5...iono...i'm just not a reader..though i SHOULD be...

I think it looks more like autumn leaves than Harry Potter...or are they the same color? Haha *shrug* Either way, I love it! I want to do this now.

what?! you don't like harry potter?! :0P

i love these colors on you; very pretty.

hmm, if the smashbox one doesn't give you blackheads, then the monistat chafing relief gel shouldn't, either. the ingredients are pretty much identical.
