Reorganizing

Sorry guys for being MIA again :S. Been mostly hanging out at the bf's place, but he's been using the computer almost all the time the past week for something he's working on. Finally got to reply to your comments and post this now because he went on his PS3 for a break :P For once I actually wanted him to go on the PS3 and not bug me, lol. I have a lot of posts to catch up on reading!

So I've been on that shopping ban for over a month now and its been going well in terms of makeup. I did however buy a pair of mini tweezermans and some bath/body stuff from the drugsture because I "sorta" needed them :P Don't have the pictures watermarked and the body stuff isn't too exciting, so I'll probably post about them only when I've used them enough to do a review.

However I do have something to share - my newly reorganized eye product collection. My traincase was getting really redundant because I'd squeeze everything in there but I would never know what colours or products I already own because nothing was organized inside.

So I decided to save the traincase for only foundation, concealer, cheek and lip products. All the eye products - shadows, liners, mascaras now have a drawer of their own. I deliberately chose a large drawer because I really wanted to be able to see all my colours at once. That way it encourages me to use more of my stuff, and discourages me from buying more.

I was too cheap to buy drawer dividers, haha. So I recycled :) I used the empty chocolate boxes from Valentine's Day as dividers. (I keep spelling 'divivers' instead of 'dividers'....whats going on...?? lol) Also threw in a contact lenses box for my pencil liners and an empty LORAC box that one of my palettes came in.

Eye makeup storage 2008 July watermarked

Labelled the sections so you know what is what.

Eye makeup storage 2008 July labelled

One of the chocolates came with a plastic insert which helped the individually wrapped chocolate pieces to be stacked nicely - that came in really handy with the small palettes below. As you can see they stack nicely, its because of that plastic insert thingy :)

I wanted to put in falsies too, but there wasn't space, unless I start stacking them on top. That'll defeat the purpose of being able to see the colours I own though, so for now I'm just keeping them in separate boxes.

So the next time you get a box of chocolates, save the box because those can come in handy!

nice organization! that's SO SMART to use the empty chocolate box as an divider. now your makeup drawer looks like a little makeup display. haha. very awesome. :D

That's a whollllle lotta makeup. You have much more than I do. When it starts to get so big, I start to cut down the size by throwing and/or giving stuff away. lol

hey I do the same thing too. I organize my bath room drawers with tin/plastic chocolate and cookie boxes...

its a cheap alternative to storage.

oh my gosh how much makeup do u have? lol, this is such a creative way of organising them. my collection's real small so i just use a few stacked MUJI trays & it's good enough for me...

Both my traincases are full, so I'm using cookieboxes, giftbox-boxes etc. They didn't cost me anyething except for the content and they do the job nicely. You're a very organized person!

Lovely organization!
I must do the same thing when i'll back to my home in Rome, i'm always moving for my work and i usually pack every make up stuffs in 5 large purple beauty cases bought from The body shop during years, so the top of my dressed is a bit messy.
Somedays ago a Muji shop opened in Rome and i think i can buy some plastic drawer as your to put in my closet. The idea to recycle chocolate boxes is so clever!

Nice! This is what I do back home, but instead of chocolate boxes I use my dad's golf ball boxes! :D

nice use of recycling those boxes :) I love how the little eyeshadow quads look so neat and accessible...well, all of the makeup is accessible, but you know what I mean :)

Wow. You have a TON of makeup. (*is jealous*)

Also, I just picked up a pair of mini tweezermans too - they're pure LOVE, no?

I always save my boxes for the same reason (and their lids! You never know when you'll need a shallower container!) Lol: "I needed a new box for organization. Want a chocolate?"

Nice job on reorganizing everything! I've given up on drawers; I went to Target and bought a bunch of the small plastic containers, and just threw everything in there. Sadly, I actually know where everything is, lol.

I posted pics of part of my collection on ABB. There's is simply too much for me to take pics of my entire stash. I'm not kidding, I think this is 30% of my stash in these pics. Here are the links to some of my more n00bier days.

Haha! I was just looking at some of my old entries at ABB. Remember the first time I tried blue eyeshadow and your comment was this?: "i really like the amount you put on, its perfect. you brought it up to just the right height so that it doesn’t look harlot-y, but you can still see a nice flash of colour when you blink or look down. i never wear my blue shadows because they makes me look like i’m in some costume drama but i might just try it the way you did yours.
also just wondering, do you apply the hydro powder with your finger or a brush? if so what brush do you use?"

Now look at you, looking all hawt with your blue eyeshadow ;) I guess we've both come a long way when it comes to make-up huh? :)

What a wonderful idea! I'm totally going to copy you because my makeup is just piled in cosmetic bags everywhere and I always have to mentally rifle through my shoddy memory to see which colors I can use.
