some random news here and there

Shoppers Drug Mart has an offer this weekend for Canadians who have been hoarding their Optimum points:

Shoppers Optimum July 19 2008

Pretty good especially if you go to the newer Shoppers' that carry brands like Guerlain, Shiseido, and Benefit.

They're coming out with really good offers this year I find. Last weekend, they had an offer where if you spend $75 on almost anything in the store, you get two free movie passes for any Cineplex Odeon/Famous Players location. Those passes are valid til 2010 and have no conditions meaning you can use them whenever you want, and for any movie. I almost missed that one, but only found out about it Sunday night when I happened to stop by to get some conditioner. $75 is so easy to spend at Shoppers nowadays, especially if you buy higher end makeup there, so getting the passes is like getting $20 off your purchase.

If you like Hello Kitty stuff, H&M has some Hello Kitty ankle socks in a set of 4 for CAD$10. They come in white, pink, grey and you get one more repetition of the previous colours (can't remember which).

Bath and Body Works is finally coming to Canada! Well at least to Yorkdale Mall, this fall. Good for me because now I can start using my BBW lotions more freely lol. I love their Signature collection scents, especially Pear Blossom (though I can't remember if that one is still around or has been discontinued). Not only that, I'll finally get to try products from CO Bigelow, etc etc....

If you're in a shopping mall and desperately need hydration, RW&Co sells really cheap spring water! They sell a 500mL bottle for 75cents, cheaper than getting a bottle from the food court. And it is spring water, not the reverse osmosis stuff like the Dasani water also available in dollar stores (if you're particular about that). Of course, if you want to save more just look for the nearest washroom, hopefully the mall you are in is new enough to have water fountains in good working order :P

Anon asked awhile back how much did I get the Coach sling bag for. I actually can't find the receipt :S but I think it was $80, and I don't think that included the 8% tax.

That shopper's deal is awesome! I'd do separate checkouts of $75 to redeem more points. If we had that here, I'd get more shiseido goodies.

Is Shoppers Drugs a grocery store? A pharmacy type store? I wish pharmacies here sold HE makeup, haha.

I only just started collecting Optimum points last year so I can't really participate in the deal. I probably right now have like 10 points. LOL. Thanks for the heads up. PS: jealous with envy that you get B&BW. Wish they'd come to BC (along with Sephora).

Oh I thought the one you have is different. I went shopping today and was really tempted to get one but I was more interested to see what your thoughts are first...what's your skin type, btw? mine is combination. I don't know if it would be too dry on me or not ~sigh~

unfortunately, pear blossom is discontinued and has been for about a year or so. but who knows? maybe the canada bbw will operate differently from the US. i work at one in cali and we have plenty of customers who give us their nastygrams all the time. so maybe theyll bring it back?

jiejie: i would too but its sooo hard to get up to that points level :(

nicnic: nope i actually lent my friend points instead since she was very close to the top points level. i'm waiting to collect enough points to get to the top points level first :)

fuzkittie: its a drugstore, but in the past couple years they started expanding to include HE makeup. I still can't believe the newest ones actually stock Guerlain stuff...

psychoexgf: lol i'm sure you have more than that as I think 10 points is for every $1. Its still hard to earn though unless you have the VISA card.

jewels: thanks for the heads up! I don't have one because I'd rather go with other points cards but thats good to know. I wonder why they're cancelling it...

Thanks for the post!! We're getting a B&Bwrks in WEM soon, too - not sure exactly when, but I think it opens before yours :P

Also, the water at my RW&Co (Alberta) is not that cheap!! It's something obscene, like $1.50/250ml, I believe?

Must go find a Shopper's :D
