Review: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker's latest fragrance, Lovely is not something I would normally have bothered with. However I was recently given the opportunity to test it and share my thoughts on it so I figured why not?

The fragrance comes in a simple rounded glass bottle with a pink tint - just what you'd expect from the Sex and the City actress :)

Notes: Fresh Mandarin, Bergamot, Rosewood, Lavender, Apple Martini, Patchouli, Paper Whites, Orchid, Cedar, White Amber, Musk Woods. (source)

Again I'm not a huge fan of SJP's so I was apprehensive about whether this scent would be my cup of tea. I mean I love her clothes and fashion, but her whole "Sex and the City" image made me think of sultry scents like musk and vanilla. If you notice my taste in fragrances, its usually the fruity, citrus types I tend towards.

However I was very pleasantly suprised. After testing the scent a couple of times last week I can definitely see myself wearing this again and again.

The top notes are fruity AND citrusy, so that helped draw me in :) I was waiting for the middle and end notes to be overpowering but I was pleasantly surprised. Even though its supposed to have amber and musk, those notes were subtle and didn't overpower my nose at all. Most scents usually would've failed me at this point but Lovely was suprisingly...lovely :P Haha, corny I know :D

If you're in Canada, Sears has an offer where with each purchase of the 100 mL size, they'll give you a copy of the Sex and the City DVD.

Overall:
I'd definitely recommend this fragrance. Its a good scent to perform double duty for both day and night wear. Its not too heavy, so you can still wear this during the day, but has enough complexity to the scent to use for a date / night out!

P.S. I also love her dress in the fragrance commercial :) Can't embed it here, but you can see it on the official website or Youtube.

I liked this perfume very much (bought a 100ml about two years ago and used it up within 6 months). I didn't repurchase though, simply because I like to change scents (got Nina by Nina Ricci instead, but have since used that up and switched to Clinique Happy to Be and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea). I got the Lovely serum spray, which felt really nice on my skin. Unfortunately I'm allergic to something in the ingredients and broke out in a rash. That spray is sitting pretty on my vanity... I have no idea what to do with it.

mandarin sounds like a good ingredient to have in a perfume, it must be very refreshing.
i've seen SJP interviewed by an italian show host, but she seemed pretty fake...anyway lol..

Hahha they're giving you the movie with purchase?! That's handy!

I don't really like SJP all that much, but I really like her taste in SATC =P

Hmm...I've always wanted to try this fragrance. I just might! Thing is, once I buy em, I never remember to wear them :P

It does snow there, but I lived in Seoul only during the summertimes! Sad isn't? I'm 23 YO and I've never seen snow!

It doesn't sound like my kind of thing I'm afraid. I love mysterious, deep scents and this one sounds too ..apple martini? But I will go have a sniff at it next time I'm at the counter though :)

I might have to revisit this fragrance; when I first tried it, I didn't like it very much, but I'm always looking out for perfumes with bergamot as a note :)
